Live Broadcast - SESB

Thank you to Nathan and Mat for organising a live broadcast of the South East Show Band at the Town Hall on Wednesday 26th November. The Jazz Show that normally airs on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9pm switched across to the Town Hall for about an hour to enable the broadcast of the local high school students jazz band. It was tuned into by listeners from as far as NSW and the feed back has already been very positive. Thanks also to Chris and Tim who co hosted the show while Ryan who instigated the jazz show played in the band on the evening.

Another great effort by all to bring local events to the broader community, fantastic, lets keep it up!

2008 Christmas Pageant

What a great day to be a part of. So many happy children's faces could be seen lining the street as the many floats, clowns and bands made their way past, followed by the much anticipated arrival of Santa. Thanks to Nathan, Shannon, Daniel & Pat for continuing our tradition to broadcast this event live over the radio. Another excellent participation by the station at a well loved annual community event. Keep up the great work guys!

Live OB at McDonald Park Sports Day

What a great day was had by all who attended. The rain held off, the sun peaked out every now and then and a cool breeze gave some relief to the athletes. Thank you to Ryan, Bob, Chris, Jane, Anthony & Mat for helping out. Teachers, students and parents were interviewed throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Positive comments about our presence and broadcast were received from the teachers, students and the wider community who tuned in. Well done!

It would be great to see the station participate in more community events such as this.

Station News - November 2008

Training Nights
Mathew Wall our station manager continues to conduct training sessions on Tuesday evenings from 5.00pm to 6.30pm
Contact Mat to confirm arrangements

DDN Computer Update
New software has been ordered to repair the computer this shouldn't be far away.

Grant Update
The station has put in for a few grants recently for some resources. We have applied for a Production & Training Panel to make things identical to the on-air system we run. This will help trainees familiarise themselves before stepping on air. We have also applied for a BBQ, Trailer and Marquee for fundraisers. A similar type of thing to what was used when we did the Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser a few months ago. This will save our volunteers having to bring their equipment & also allow us to have functions at the station.

The board has a Grants Committee setup, & if you know of any grants that the station may be able to apply for please let Nate, Perri or Mat know so we can have a go at them.

Subscriber Update
The Subscriber committee has already secured 4 discounts for the launch of the subscriber card. They have approached about 25 businesses to date, so a good response so far. If people know of any businesses that may wish to give a discount to our subscribers, please let Janet Finnis-Hare or Shannon Speck know so they can be contacted appropriately. The card will hopefully be launched in January and generate a good money earner for 5GTR.
